Do you find yourself rushed in the mornings? If you’re like most people, the answer to that question is probably yes. While breakfast is definitely the most important meal of the day, it is often times the meal that gets brushed aside resulting in a rumbling tummy mid-morning and overeating the rest of the day.
A product that has made it into my grocery cart more times than I’d like to admit is the little instant oatmeal packets. I’ve recently decided to try my hand at these since they probably are much healthier and cheaper if made at home in bulk. While slow cooked oatmeal is my favorite, there are days when I have to teach an early morning yoga or Pilates class and must eat at my desk. Here is a quick how-to if you’re interested in making your own.
Mix the above recipe and divide into 1/2 cup portions. I used plastic containers as opposed to plastic bags to reduce waste. When you’re in a rush, grab a container and take with you to work. Add 3/4 cup of water or milk and heat in microwave for about one minute. Enjoy!
