Oscar Worthy Workout!

Red Carpet Workout!

I love movies and find them to be a great way to de-stress after a long day or week. I especially love this time of year when all the Oscar nominated films are released and awards season is in full-swing. I will watch the Oscars, however long the show lasts, every year. It’s kind of like my Superbowl. I especially love all the fashion and dream about wearing an Oscar-worthy dress someday. When the show is over and I’m getting off the couch, I realize just how long I’ve been sitting – sometimes three or more hours! That’s actually kind of unusual for me to sit that long so last year I devised a little routine to get me moving during the show. It was such a fun workout that I wanted to share it again this year!

Whether you plan to watch the Oscars or not, you can do at least one of these challenges. As you can see below, the first challenge is 10 push-ups for every best film nomination you’ve seen. I’ve seen five of the nine so I have 50 push-ups before the show even gets started! For the record, I saw Her, 12 Years a Slave, Dallas Buyers Club, Captain Phillips, and American Hustle. One of my favorite films of the year, Inside Llewyn Davis, was snubbed in my opinion! Even the cat from that film deserves some kind of nod, maybe a Feline Oscar?

Here’s who I’m pulling for, in case you’re interested.
Best Actor: Christian Bale, American Hustle
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine (great movie!)
Supporting Actor: Jared Leto, Dallas Buyers Club. Who would’ve thought, Jordan Catalano…
Supporting Actress: Lupita Nyong’o from 12 Years a Slave. If she doesn’t win I will actually be upset.
Best Picture: 12 Years a Slave. A difficult movie to watch but very well done.
Best Documentary: 20 Feet From Stardom! You MUST see this if you love music.

On a side note, if Barkhad Abdi wins best supporting actor for his role as Muse in Captain Phillips. I would be very happy. This was his first film. Ever. Pretty amazing story to stardom, in my opinion! What was your favorite film this year?
